Wyatt salvages outing down the stretch

ORLANDO – Early on, Khalif Wyatt looked out of place.

The 76ers undrafted rookie guard didn't appear confident or athletic enough to hold his own in Sunday morning's Orlando Pro Summer League game against the Houston Rockets.

But just when you were convinced he blew his opportunity, the former Temple guard showed he still has a chance to make an NBA roster.

The 6-foot-4, 215-pounder made three of his final four baskets to finish with nine points in the 88-80 setback. For the game, Wyatt made just 4 of 15 field goal attempts.

"I think I have to do a better job of just being ready as soon as you get off the bench," said Wyatt, who played a reserve role Sunday. "I have to be ready to make plays. This is a different. I never did it before.

"I'll get it down. I'll be fine."

The last time Wyatt was a reserve was in 2011 at Temple. That's when he was named the Atlantic Ten Conference sixth man of the year. He also had to adjust Sunday to play without being primary ballhandler.

"It's different," said Wyatt, who also had three assists, three rebounds, two steals and two turnovers. "But I just picked it up as the game went on and made more and more plays."
