Turner next on list
The 76ers will interview Houston Rockets assistant coach Elston Turner on Friday in Philadelphia.
Turner told KRIV-TV in Houston that he plans to interview for both the Sixers opening and the Chicago Bulls opening. Turner said he hasn't yet set a date for his interview with the Bulls.
Turner previously interviewed for the head coaching vacancies with the Phoenix Suns and Minnesota Timberwolves. He has worked as an assistant coach with the Sacramento Kings, Portland Trail Blazers and, for the last three seasons, with the Rockets.
The Sixers have interviewed six candidates so far: Doug Collins, Avery Johnson, Sam Mitchell, Bill Laimbeer, Dan Majerle, and Monty Williams. The search, it appears, continues.

- So who do the SIXERS draft tuesday ??? johnnyu
What about Mike Woodson? Atlanta didn't renew his contract, and he is known to be a good defensive coach Llamaboy1375
give Mike Brown the job....better than anyone else they have on their list. EaglesBleedMoney
Have you looked at CYO? JimDunfee
Please don't bother Ed Snider while he is on his Flyers joy ride? Comcast has made a mess of the Sixers since they owned them. They're grasping at straws. Please Larry Brown, or Doug Collins, please help us overcome our gross mismanagement of the roster. And, remember, we MUST draft the player with highest upside even though we have a roster full of high upside players who can't play. The saga continues. RunningTheBases

isnt phil jackson's contract up after this year? why not hire him and let him build the team...oh wait that might sound too much like something smart... hermano1
Agree with the Mick074, Just go ahead and hire Doug Collins. I believe he is the man to lead us through this mess. I think Stefanski will wait until after the draft lottery to whittle down the finalists if in fact HE still employed by the 76ers. dudega
This sounds more like stalling than searching. echosmyron
If this is a joke, forgive me if I dont laugh. combocancer1975
I coach High School basketball.....Where do I send my resume? jaydes
I would rather have EVAN Turner than this yahoo. redcans
OK at what point to we narrow it down or do we make a double switch?? Can Stefanski, hire Brown anjd let him hire a coach. What a great concept!! for those naysayers, what a great concept!! hrlevine
You gotta be kidding me! ohiophilly- This is a sick joke. Hey, Ed - can I get an interview as long as you're handing them out like candy? jpk

Um, didn't go through this SAME EXACTING F'ING PROCESS LAST YEAR????? The Sixers have no clue what they are looking for in a coach. Last year they interviewed the entire Eastern Seaboard and ended up with EDDIE F'N JORDAN. Please just hire Avery Johnson (wait, Mr. Flyers hockey is too cheap to ever pay a Sixer's head coach decent money), so I guess so with Laimbeer. Then, after you hire him, FIRE ED STEFANSKI. brmorgen81
hire allen iverson!!!!! now that would be hilarious. sasquatches
just hire collins already. at least he'll have the balls to tell management this team needs to be blown apart; or maybe he already has, and that's why he hasn't been hired yet... themick074
I can see the Sixers thought process... Yeah.. Turner.. he'd be a good choice... He was a good backup point guard for us.. and Scott Brooks was a former backup point guard for us, and he's done a great job. Scott Skiles was with us, and he's OK. Then... when he gets there they realize that the former point guard was Andre Turner. Interview over. Sorry Elston. Where is Greg Grant by the way? Dana Barros??? madecaro
The problem is in order to get a recognizable name as a coach, he has to believe in the players. Good luck. B in DC
This is a joke ... The Sixers are a laughingstock .. azsixerfan
WHO???? get the f*!k outta here. eglftbl1
