Sixers to sign Arizona point guard McConnell.
The 76ers will sign Arizona point guard T.J. McConnell to a partially guaranteed contract on Friday.
"T.J. said he had a good feeling about a couple of teams, and Philadelphia was one of them." McConnell's father, Tim, told the Arizona Republic. "He's going to give it a shot and see what happens. The worst thing that can happen is he goes to the D-League."
McConnell would reportedly still receive a six-figure salary if he doesn't make the NBA squad.
The 6-foot-1, 195-pounder, who went undrafted Thursday, will play on the Sixers summer-league teams. He'll also battle for a roster spot during fall camp.
McConnell averaged 10.4 points, 6.3 assists, 3.8 rebounds and 2.2 steals this past season as a senior He shot a team-leading 83 percent from the foul line and was a first-team all-Pac 12 selection. The Pittsburgh native transferred to the Wildcats after spending his first two seasons at Duquesne.
