Saturday afternoon: 76ers vs. Nets

The 76ers will play the New Jersey Nets today at 1 p.m. at the Prudential Center in Newark, N.J. It will be the second meeting between the two teams this preseason. On Tuesday, the Nets beat the Sixers, 103-96, in Roanoke, Va. If you want quarterly updates from the Prudential Center, click here: Deep Sixer.

News for today's game: Sixers center Spencer Hawes, lower back strain, did not practice on Friday and will not play today. His condition will be evaluated day-to-day. The likely starting lineup, given his absence, should be point guard Jrue Holiday, shooting guard Andre Iguodala, small forward Thaddeus Young, power forward Elton Brand, and center Marreese Speights. Also out: big man Tony Battie, right knee synovitis, and (likely) forward Andres Nocioni (left ankle sprain). Nocioni was cleared for full practice on Friday, so he could see some action today, but the Sixers have previously said he will only play the final three games of the preseason schedule.

More after today's game.
