A source with knowledge of the situation has confirmed that Eddie Jordan's deal to become the 76ers next head coach is worth $8.1 million over 3 years. The first year, when Jordan's former team the Washington Wizards must off-set anything less than $4 million, is worth $2 million. The second year is worth $3 million. The third year is worth $3.1 million.

All of the money is guaranteed.

I can't wait for the epic battle by the 76ers over the next 3 years for the 7th seed as Andre Iguadola and Samuel Dalembert try to run the Princeton Offense

Kate. Why do people think Eddie Jordan is such a "great" coach? He has a career average of 9 games below 500 as an NBA coach. I think there were better coaches out there.

Why did they pay him $2 million for the first year if the Wizards were responsible for paying any amount below $4 million? Why not pay him $1 and let the Wizards pay the rest? (Crossi gets it) - We are still paying Mo for this coming season so why not make the sound financial decision and let the Wizards pay for our coach this year. What is Jordan going to care where the $$$$ comes from as long as he still gets his $4 million?

I have to admit, I wasn't bowled over by any of the coaching candidates in the running. And while Eddie Jordan doesn't get me overly excited, he at least deserves a fair chance. Maybe he'll surprise us. My experience tells me that when a sports team is continually mired in mediocrity, constantly trading players and firing coaches, the problem lies further up the chain of command. If not the GM, then the ownership itself. I hope the Sixers prove me wrong. I'm still optimistic they can turn the corner. I guess a lot depends on Jordan, a healthy Brand and the rest of the team putting it all together. We'll see...

If the Princeton offense can't work for Princeton, who compiled a 13-14 record last season and never was known as an NCAA 'powerhouse', how can it possibly benefit the Sixers?

I agree.. 8.1 is way too much. Im originally from Philly (still claim that home) I have been here in the DC area for the past 12yrs and a season ticket holder for the wizards, and the fans are very glad to see him go. Im willing to give him a year and then judge him.

Just watched Kate on CBS 3 sports zone. She is very cute and an excellent speaker(not to mention, we already know she knows her stuff). Can she please replace Dei Lynam, sorry but she is awful in every way!

Oh, and 8.1 million is insane for Jordan! he is just another run of the mill coach. he should have gotten no more than the average for the bottom 10 coaches in the league and if successful, he can sign a new contract at that point. Stefanski stinks!

im excited to see this offensive system...based on the terms of the system i think the players we have on the roster will excel in the style...and still be able to run...but we need to play d and defend the 3....i need that too...go sixers!!!

wait a second...teenwolf, a sixers fan with positive comments to say? I commend you for that. I agree. I am also excited to see this new offense. The rest of you suck for always trashing this team instead of showing support. Shame on you all.

Actually, it might not be all that bad. I was hesitant when I heard name Eddie Jordan, but the Princeton offense is intriguing. It wins if used right. Winning in this league is about finding the right formula to fit the personnel. Remember, the triangle offense - Jordan's career would have been different without it. This could work in the east, has, and might work with this team. If E. Jordan has right handle on sub patterns and stefanski can find appropriate personnel to fit this system, 6ers could be 6th seed.
