Jordan denies Rutgers report
Prior to tonight's game against the Memphis Grizzlies, 76ers coach Eddie Jordan denied a report by Yahoo! Sports' Adrian Wojnarowski that he has told those close to him that he has "significant" interest in the head coaching job at his alma mater, Rutgers University.
Jordan will be dismissed as Sixers coach at season's end, which was reported in the Inquirer a month ago. The Sixers play their final game of this season on Wednesday at the Orlando Magic. Jordan's dismissal won't be long after the season's end, although a specific timeframe has not been set.
Wojnarowski reported that Jordan "could be a serious candidate" for the Rutgers' gig, which is currently occupied by Fred Hill (he's been given until Monday to accept a $600,000 buyout).
Tonight, Jordan said: "I haven’t expressed any interest, I haven’t talked to anybody about the Rutgers job."
When asked if he'd seen the report, Jordan said: "I have not. I couldn’t get internet in my room today, so … but, no, I haven’t talked about the Rutgers job to anyone. I haven't talked about it; I haven't even thought about it."

With Eddie the Sixers stink. Go to Rutgers and continue their sorry basketball program. If Rutgers ever wants to be a legit basketball team, it doesn't begin with bringing in Eddies Jordan! hawk18- Anything that gets him away from our team is a good thing

Maybe he can teach THEM the Princeton offense. JERK q2again
How desperate must Rutgers be to even consider Jordan? He hasn't done much not only with the Sixers, but any of his most recent coaching jobs. catnameddomino
The Sixers should go after Avery Johnson as coach, trade Dalembert, eat Brand's contract, tell Iggie to stop taking 3's, and go after the Knicks David Lee and Chris Bosh. phillyfunk
Jordan's style is a better fit for college ball, where he can more easily get players to buy into whatever he's doing. That doesn't work with pros. Now that we know Jordan's gone, I'm more worried about who Stefanski is going to bring in now. Hate to think it could be even worse, but it's a possibility. echosmyron- Cat, where in Fagan's piece does it say Rutgers expressed any interest in Jordan? All it says is that the Yahoo guy said Jordan expressed interest in Rutgers. Reading comprehension is such an elusive skill.
I sure hope they mean Rutgers-Camden. 2 wins a year and D3 would make for the perfect fit for Eddie. cpartridge76

Yes, please do us all a favor and get the hell outta town, and take your losing ways with you !!! bobox- Jordan may be more successful at the college level where passive/aggressive coaching tactics may work [such as benching the best players on the team when they mess up, instead of confronting them, man-to-man]. I'd drive him to the airport... fillyfan
Im sure he does. He should throw his hat into the ring. he wont be back here. Wise_Owl
Good luck -- Sixers were a stepping stone to a better job for him. Just so he leaves and we get somebody who can get the most out of this team, starting with consistent defense. gba
