"Best" and "Worst" awards: Sixers vs. Phoenix Suns
PHOENIX – This is my look at some of the best and worst performances from the Phoenix Suns 112-96 victory over the 76ers Friday night at USAirways Arena.
Best performance: This goes to Markieff Morris. The Suns power forward made 3 of 4 three-pointers en route to finishing with 21 points. The Philly native made 7 of 12 shots overall and sank all four of his foul shots. He also had two steals and blocked a shot.
Worst performance: I had to give this to Nerlens Noel. On the positive side, the Sixers center blocked two shots and had a game-high four offensive rebounds and six total. However, the rookie appeared out of it, and was benched with 4 minutes, 56 seconds left in the third quarter. He finished with four points on 2-for-6 shooting. While he showed some flashes, this just wasn't a good night for Noel, who looks to bounce back on Saturday at the Los Angeles Clippers.
Best defensive performance: I'm giving this to Alex Len. The Suns center finished with a career-high six blocked shots.
Best performance in a losing effort: Tony Wroten gets this by finishing with a game-high 28 points on 10-for-19 shooting (four of nine three-pointers). Wroten also had three assists. His one glaring negative was five turnovers. However, it was a solid performance overall.
Worst statistic: This award goes to the Sixers making just 60 percent (15 of 25) on their foul shots.
Best statistic: I'm giving this to the Suns shooting 87.5 percent (14 of 16) from the foul line.
Worst of the Worst: This goes to the Sixers' perimeter defense. Everyone knew the Suns were going to put up a lot of three-point attempts. However, a lot of those shots were wide-open looks. They made 14 of 32 (43.8 percent). If you know a team is going to shot threes at least you can attempt to defend it.
