Singles back Obama, wed with Romney, polls shows

A new poll suggests single voters support Barack Obama over Mitt Romney, while married voters prefer Romney.

A national Quinnipiac University Poll released this morning shows President Obama leading former Mass. Gov. Mitt Romney 46-43 percent, with a big break down coming between voters who are married or single.  Single voters support Obama over Romney 54-34 percent, with the president scoring 2-1 with single women.  Married voters prefer Romney 51-38 over Obama.

In a news release, assistant poll director Peter Brown noted that married voters tend to be older, more financially secure and conservative than single, younger voters.
