PHA chief leaving for family reasons

Michael Kelly stepped down today from his post as chief of the Philadelphia Housing Authority.

Kelly took over the embattled agency more than a year ago following the Carl Greene scandal, but two weeks ago he said he gave notice of his resignation.

Kelly told Philly Clout that he's leaving for "personal family reasons."

"I want to make sure I have a good life, work balance. I'm not at liberty to go into specifics," Kelly said adding that another announcement will follow in a week. "I believe we've done a really good job establishing the kinds of systems to generate the public's trust," Kelly said. "I'm very very proud of my opportunity to serve the city of Philadelphia and Philadelphia Housing Authority clients."
