Former Mayor Street: New Taxes Unfair To Poor

Former Mayor John Street just arrived for the budget address and had some harsh words for Mayor Nutter's proposals to add a trash fee and a soda tax.

"I just don't know how you can put a 70 percent tax on a 2 liter bottle of coke," Street said. "It's the poor people who are going to pay the sugar tax. Then you put a trash tax on top. I think that is very problematic."

Street said Council should review the budget to see if there are other ways to find savings.
