Former Candidate Ponders Run for Council At-Large

Former City Council candidate Donna Gentile O'Donnell says she's pondering another run for an at-large council seat.

O'Donnell, a public policy consultant, ran unsuccessfully for Council at-large in 1999, finishing in sixth place, just out of reach of one of the five Democratic at-large seats. She has created a political action committee to explore running again this year.

"I am sick and tired of getting up every morning and reading the Daily News and reading the Inquirer and finding something else to throw my hands up in frustration and despair," O'Donnell said. "I'm so tired of listening to myself complain, I feel like I should try."

O'Donnell said she was raising money and talking to former supporters to see if a bid makes sense. She said she expected to make a decision about whether to run within the next month.

O'Donnell's husband Bob O'Donnell is a former Democratic Speaker of the state House of Representatives.
