Former journalist is now Clarke's new communications director

City Council president Darrell Clarke has hired a former journalist and native Philadelphian as his communications director.

City Council president Darrell Clarke has hired a former journalist and native Philadelphian as his communications director.

Jane Roh, started the new gig today after working for the Cherry Hill Courier Post for two years, the National Journal and Fox News Channel in New York covering politics and congressional campaigns.

"I always planned to come back home," Roh said. "This is my dream job."

Clarke's office won't immediately release Roh's salary --a common request made by reporters writing about new government employees --instead the Daily News has been informed that a Right-to-know request will have to be made.

Roh will replace Council's longtime spokesman Tony Radwanski, who is set to retire soon. Roh worked in the journalism industry for 10 years wearing a number of different hats as a reporter, editor and deputy managing editor.

"I know what reporters want from politicians, what frustrates them…I think that's why they brought me on," she said, adding she hopes to make Council more visible to the public.

"I definitely know what it's like to be on the other side," she said. "Hopefully I can bring that empathy."
