Councilman Hires Son of Former GOP Mayoral Candidate

Like father, like son.

Matt Taubenberger, son of failed Republican mayoral candidate Al Taubenberger, is joining City Councilman Jack Kelly's staff as a part-timer. Back in the 1980s, Al Taubenberger worked for Kelly himself.

In 2008, Matt Taubenberger launched an unsuccessful Republican bid for state representative in the 170th District in the Northeast, losing to state Rep. Brendan Boyle. Taubenberger also worked for former state Rep. George Kenney, who previously held the seat.

Kelly said Taubenberger would work two days a week on constituent services. He is expected to start June 15.
