Council Opposes Expansion of Center City Porn House

City Council today passed a resolution voicing opposition to the planned expansion of the Forum Theater, a porno house on 22nd and Market Streets.

Inquirer Columnist Inga Saffron wrote about the project last month, questioning why the Zoning Code Commission and the city planning department have appoved the expansion of the theater. The Center City Residents Association opposes the expansion.

Council's resolution today doesn't have any real legal weight, but it is a way for them to use their bully pulpit, said Councilman Darrell Clarke, who sponsored the resolution along with Council President Anna Verna.

"We are voicing our displeasure," Clarke said, noting that the expansion runs counter to the plans to enhance west Market Street.
