City Hall barricades removed

Since Occupy Philly began, police barricades have surrounded City Hall.

But those metal barriers have now been pushed to the side –allowing the public to move about freely. Three sides of the Courtyard are also now open.

The city was spending about $100,000 a week for Occupy Philly –mostly in police overtime, however, the number of officers near City Hall seem to have dropped compared to last week.

It is not yet clear why the barricades were removed. The Police Department and City officials did not respond to immediate requests for comment.
