Campaign Contributions Boosted In 8th Council District
Howard Treatman, one of seven Democrats seeking to replace City Councilwoman Donna Reed Miller in the 8th District, has invested so much of his own money in his campaign that the contribution limits have been doubled for all candidates there. The Philadelphia Board of Ethics just released a statement noting that, with a $35,000 contribution on Thursday, Treatman has brought his total investment to $279,486.

The Philadelphia Board of Ethics just released a statement noting that, with a $35,000 contribution on Thursday, Treatman has brought his total investment to $279,486.
That's well above the $250,000 limit that triggers the "doubling provision" of the city's campaign finance limits. That means all candidates in the 8th District race can collect double the $2,600 individual limit and double the $10,600 political action committee limit, as of Thursday.
Treatman describes himself as a "successful businessman and political newcomer" who has lived in Germantown for 17 years.
