Rowan freshman injured in shooting near campus

The Rowan University student was in good condition after being shot early Sunday morning in the “Campus Crossings” apartment complex right by campus in Glassboro.

A Rowan University student was shot early Sunday morning at an apartment complex near campus, school officials said.

Anayochukwu Logan Iloabanafor, a freshman at the university, was shot around 1 a.m. He was taken to Cooper University Hospital, where he was listed in good condition and expected to make a full recovery, the university said in an email blast sent shortly after 3:30 a.m.

His attackers were found in Gloucester Township, about ten miles to the northeast, and taken into custody, the school said.

Iloabanafor had been at The Crossings at Glassboro, an apartment complex just west of Rowan's main campus in Glassboro. About half a mile from the Henry Rowan statue at the heart of campus, "Campus Crossings" is a popular off-campus housing option for students. Residents also include members of the public and students of other nearby schools.

Iloabanafor, of Bergenfield, Bergen County, lives in the university's Mimosa Hall for freshmen. He was visiting the apartment complex at the time, the school said in its update.

Police initially sought a black 2010 Chevrolet Camaro with silver racing stripes, according to a message sent through Rowan's emergency alert system around 1:50 a.m. A university spokesman said multiple people were taken into custody in Gloucester Township, but he did not know how many.

The Glassboro Police Department and Gloucester County Prosecutor's Office are leading the investigation.
