A college course on "Downton Abbey"

Camden County College offers course on the popular show "Downton Abbey."

Want to know more about the popular television program "Downton Abbey?"

Camden County College will take students inside the saga of the Crawley family in a new five-session, mini-course this fall.

The course, "Downton Abbey: Life in a Country House," will look at the historic and social context of the highly popular BBC/PBS program.

The course will run from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. on five Thursdays from Oct. 3 to Nov. 7. It will be taught by Professor Ellen Hernandez.

Here's the rundown:

Oct. 3 — "A Class on Classes: Servants, Socialites and Solicitors."

Oct. 17 "The Inheritance Problem: Marriage, Women and Property"

Oct. 24 - "Changes Afoot: Tragedy and Transformation"

Oct. 31 - "Technology Intrudes: Lights, Phones and Cars"

Nov. 7 - "The Real Downton Abbey: The Legacy of Highclere Castle"

The cost is $25 — or $50 for a membership that includes access to an unlimited number of other mini courses through June 30.
