Timothy James Kane, 32, faces a minimum of five years in jail and a maximum of 50 years, pluse a $750,000 fine if he's found guilty.

Neither the indictment nor the press release from the US Attorney's Office in Philadelphia indicate how authorities allegedly traced the graphic images to Kane's computer. Law enforcement officials often use special technology that can trace who is trading child porn online.

This case is part of the Justice Department's Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in 2006 to crack down on child pornography and other crimes against children.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation conducted the investigation. It is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Paul G. Shapiro.
