Delaware Valley College to open veterans' center honoring Janet Manion

Delaware Valley College next week will open a center for students who are veterans or in the military community. It will be named in honor of the late Janet Manion, a woman who started the Travis Manion Foundation, which helps fallen veterans and their families.

Her son Travis, a Marine, was killed in Iraq in 2007.  She died of cancer last year.

The center, in Elson Hall on the school's main campus in Doylestown, will be called the Janet Manion Military and Veterans Center. Students who've served in the military, as well as their family members, can relax there and will have access to support staff who can help them with paper work for school funding and other matters.

The center officially opens Monday evening at 5 p.m. Col. Tom Manion, Janet's husband, and Lt. Gov. Jim Cawley are among the people who are scheduled to speak.
