Tailfins stick out at New Hope Auto Show

Classic and antique cars and motorcycles from around the eastern U.S. will be on display at the 54th annual show.

See sleek, classic cars graced with distinctive tailfins this weekend at the 54th annual New Hope Automobile Show this weekend at New Hope-Solebury High School.

The show, one of the largest and oldest in the region, will also feature Nellybelle, the jeep from the Roy Rogers Show.

Tailfins, the theme of this year's show, dressed up cars from 1948 through 1963. The poster car, a 1957 Cadillac Eldorado Brougham, is a hand-built, limited-edition, four-door hardtop sedan owned by Gene Epstein of Wrightstown. It features America's first pillarless four-door body styling, with a brushed stainless steel roof, quad headlights and unique trim.

Antique and classic cars and motorcycles from the eastern United States also will be on display, with judging of more than 50 categories and a parade of winners at the end of Saturday's and Sunday's shows.

The New Hope-Solebury Community Association sponsors the show and presents thousands of dollars in scholarships to the school's students and to local civic groups.

The grounds are open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., with $5 general admision, $3 for seniors and free for children less than 12.  Service members and their immediate families attend free. On-site parking costs $5 a day.
