If the Flyers had won their shootout with the Winnipeg Jets Tuesday, they would have no longer been the NHL team with the worst winning percentage in shootouts.
But they lost, and their winning percentage (.345) remains at the bottom of the NHL's shootout barrel.
Personally — and nobody asked me — but I don't like the shootout to decide games and award the extra point. It takes too many of the participants out of the mix. If they are going to do this, why not just let the coaches play a quick hand of gin rummy for that point?
Ilya Bryzgalov would happily deal.
