Flyers' First Line of Defense

Flyers first-round defensemen selections

The Flyers last weekend selected a defenseman in the first round of the NHL Draft for the 12th time in their history. And not just any defenseman — a skinny defenseman.

At 6-3, 181 Travis Sanheim is a pound lighter but an inch taller than 1986 No. 1 Flyers blue line pick Kerry Huffman (listed at 6-2, 180 on draft day), so we are going to call Sanheim the skinniest of the dozen.

Of the 12, only Behn Wilson would go on to play more games for the Flyers than Huffman, although Samuel Morin (last year's first-round pick) and Sanheim have yet to make their NHL debut. Five of the first 10 barely played a handful of games in Orange-and-Black.
