Dems plan to raise $300k for Wolf in Phila. Thursday
Leading Democrats have scheduled separate Philadelphia fundraisers Thursday for gubernatorial nominee Tom Wolf and state Sen. Mike Stack, the candidate for lieutenant governor.
For Democrat Tom Wolf, summer is the time to put some fuel back in the tank and to mend whatever hard feelings may yet remain from the party's primary fight for governor.
Two Philadelphia fundraisers Thursday should help in both regards.
A constellation of Democratic heavyweights plans a 5:30 p.m. reception at the Rittenhouse Square home of philanthropist and lawyer Sheldon Bonovitz that organizers believe will raise $250,000 to $300,000 for the Wolf campaign.
In addition to Bonovitz, co-hosts for the event are Allentown Mayor Ed Pawlowski; Robert L. Archie Jr. and Alan C. Kessler, both lawyers with Duane Morris LLP. (Bonovitz is chairman emeritus of that firm.)
Co-chairs include state Rep. Dwight Evans, Marsha Perelman, Dan Berger and Joe Zuritsky.
Former Gov. Ed Rendell, under whom Wolf served as state revenue secretary, is scheduled to appear as a special guest.
And at the Union League during the same time frame, U.S. Rep. Bob Brady will be the headliner of a fundraiser for the second half of the Democratic ticket – State Sen. Mike Stack (D.,Phila.), the nominee for lieutenant governor.
The host committee for the Stack event: Leonard Barrack; the Carpenters union; state Sens. Larry Farnese, Vincent Hughes, Shirley Kitchen, Tina Tartaglione and Daylin Leach; the Fire PAC of Local 22 of the International Association of Firefighters; Eileen McDonnell; Plumbers Local 520 and the PA Insurance PAC.
Tickets for the Stack fundraiser are priced at $5,000; $2,500; $1,000 and $250.
