1. Eyelash curlers are key
I used to skip this step, but curling your lashes opens up the eyes, making them appear larger. My favorite is Things are Looking Up Eye Lash Curler, sephora.com, $15.
2. Primer for your lashes
For those with short lashes (like me) it's hard to get extra length without having to use faux lashes. A primer helps add length to your lashes. Primers are usually white, so you will need to layer it with a black mascara. My favorite is Urban Decay Subversion Lash Primer, sephora.com, $20.
3. Let mascara set in between applications
You're really able to build up volume by letting each layer set (or dry). This way your lashes wont get clumpy.
4. Separate lashes
Sometimes mascara can tend to clump up the lashes. Separate lashes using a metal-toothed lash comb; apply a coat of mascara, wait a few seconds, brush through eyelashes, and then apply the next coat. Lash Comb & Brow Brush, ulta.com, $10.
