2011 is turning out to be a remarkable year. Outside of our borders, natural disaster, not-so-state-of-the-art technology, revolution and war have been revealing both the best of humankind among the many and the worst of mankind among the few.

Here on the homefront, a year that began bleakly is showing increasing signs that the good guys are winning -- from Hope Moffett (pictured at top) right here in Philadelphia, to Wisconsin, where I have little doubt that teachers and trash collectors and the thousands that support them will be victorious in the end. What it took was not just standing up for the right thing by a long-term effort, and the same thing can happen in Harrisburg if Pennsylvanians respond with the same attytood.

Where does Libya fit in? More on that later. Good thing I had No. 4 France defeating No. 13 Libya in my Worfd War III bracket.
