"This is not a plan"

POSTED: Tuesday, February 10, 2009, 7:27 PM

There are so many criticisms of Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner's non-plan for dealing with the banking crisis -- liberal, conservative, Swahili, Martian -- that it's impossible to pick just one, but here's one that includes one of the greatest quotes ever:

That lack of specificity, said Johnson, isn't helping restore confidence, pointing to a sharp drop in the market today, especially in the financial sector. "The market is responding to vagueness," said Johnson. "This is not a plan. In the annals of plan-announcing, this is very vague."

Heh..."the annals of plan-announcing." So far, the non-tax-paying bailout-bungling Geithner has the potential to become one of the worst cabinet secretaries ever -- and I think you remember some of the names he's competing against.

"Right. Now Geithner is a far-left wacko too, eh db?" So typical of you, TPS - typically lame. Please point out where I said Geithner was far left. I simply stated his views on the Japanese stimulus not having gone far enough put him on the left side of the political spectrum - which is an honest assessment - the left wants more stimulus, the right wants more in the way of tax cuts. When are you going to stop twisting the comments of other posters? It gets quite tiresome and is not conducive to a decent debate - I spend more time refuting your strawmen than actually considering and responding to opposing points of view.

The market won't rebound until the stimulus package is passed

"It's been going on since the mid 90's all the way up until now. This isn't 1 president's or Admin's fault, and if you think it is, you've been snowed by the likes of Will Bunch and fellow dopes." I'd argue it traces back to a tad earlier, but otherwise i'd agree. just wanted to make it clear that ALOT of people are at fault, not just the current admin.

"have been overextending themselves, financing EVERYTHING in sight, driving $60k cars when they should be driving $35k cars, and living in homes way above their means, etc, etc for" LOL, we used to call these people $30k millionaires.

Yep, and we keep re-electing and re-appointing the same idiots who have been causing these problems all along, and then wonder why things just keep getting worse.

"Yep, and we keep re-electing and re-appointing the same idiots who have been causing these problems all along," Thats simple, we wanted the good times to keep rolling without ever experiencing a hangover.
