I'm sure our next U.S. senator and future president from Florida, Marco Rubio, will be working hard with the state authorities to close this loophole:
Florida has developed a computer program to track the number of Pennsylvania residents who possess concealed-carry-weapon permits issued by Florida.
This follows a Daily News article last week about a loophole in Pennsylvania's gun laws that allows residents who are denied a permit or whose permit is revoked here to obtain one from Florida.
As of Friday, 2,651 Pennsylvania residents carried a Florida permit, said Terry McElroy, spokesman for the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, the agency that issues gun permits.
As reported by my Daily News colleague Stephanie Farr, that rigorous process in Florida involves...applying by mail. I know there's people out there who support the 2nd Amendment but with some reasonable restrictions. Tell me, is this reasonable? Then tell me what else is on your mind...or your hand. It's the Tuesday open thread!
Energy. And Budget, no, um, er, Tax cuts. Yea, tax cuts. That's the ticket. And lifting Americans' spirits. Yep, that's the four, er, um, sorry - three step plan to save the country. I know it like the back, er, um, palm of my hand... How's that cut-and-run quitter Palin lookin' now? All that gotcha-y and betcha-y stuff workin' for ya? E.Plebnista- Well I'm sure all the folks carrying guns illegally will immediately comply. Good thing to focus on instead of why Philadelphia's tax base is so high and how the size of city administration could grow while the population declines.
in the words of Homer Simpson, BORING!. Can anyone give me stats on how many permit holders commit crimes/felonies? Tom813
Comment removed.
Tom, it probably has something to do with the permits being denied or replaced in the first place. It wasn't that big a post. Take ten minutes and read it again. SteveMG
At last we've found the source of all Philly's crime...its..(drumroll please)....FLORIDA! oakster
Obama statement- "Palin is stupid, needing hand written notes- I use a giant Teleprompter- which Havard Grads use- I need more than a few notes- I need my entire speech written down." Manny Trillo
Anyone else shocked that "A Community Organizer" with one year of Senate experience is a failure in his first year?.......... Hopey- Changey- Manny Trillo
Always deflection when gun discussion comes up.....it's the people, not the gun, blah, blah, blah. well hell if their gonna kill anyway, why not make a profit by sellign them an efficient killing tool. Background checks, bad guys vs good guys, right to bear arms.it's all nonsense, and every day the streets are more and more filled with guns. I guess the answer is to make it the next cell phone, eveyrone's carrying one every where they go, and that threat that the guy your thinking of robbing may have a gun of his own, will prevent you front gunning him down and the fact that your carrying will keep you safe from the guy behind you with the 9mm who wants your car or your wallet. Clearly that works on the drug corners of Phila where everyone knows their opponent is carrying. It's why there are so few random shootouts out there. gee1971
What happened when the Teleprompter stopped working? Obama stumbled, bumbled, fidgeted, and said nothing- I wish Obama would write notes on his hand....... Manny Trillo
Written by a Liberal above- "Right to bear arms is nonsense."..............Thanks Herr Himler.. Manny Trillo
I don't think it's reasonable for any state to issue a gun permit to an out of state resident. That seems ridiculous. General_Turgidson
"Right to bear arms is nonsense". Unless your delivering Pizza's in West Philly. billreilly- "What happened to "dissent is patriotic"?" . . . . . Nothing. The question is, does it help al Qaeda? In other words, do you think al Qaeda prefer that we fear them or that we read them miranda warnings?
fafafooey, Republicans wetting their pants is not dissent, it is just Republicans wetting their pants again. Les Ismore
