The Philadelphia 7-to-6ers

POSTED: Wednesday, July 25, 2012, 9:55 PM

It's been one of those nights -- trying to post a happy post with a big happy picture of happy Phillies celebrating their third straight improbable last-minute come-from-behind win, all by the same score of 7-6. Alas, the blogging software won't let me post photos tonight -- so much for happiness.

Looks dumb without a picture, doesn't it?

Anyway, do you think the Phillies still have time to make the playoffs? (The long answer to that is...no.) Can you enjoy the zen of exciting baseball knowing that there will not be re-birth in October? Any other happy thoughts?

If you had 3 straight improbable last-minute come-from-behind wins, somebody else made that happen.

I just don't think it's fair that Cole should be paid all that money while others on the team are paid so little. What kind of a system is it that rewards some with hundreds of millions and others with hundreds of thousands. I think he should be taxed at a 90% rate and his money redistrbuted to other players. Must be nice for cole to be a heartless 1%er. Hey Occupy Philly, I think you have a new target.

    Bud Selig made that happen.

"Hey Occupy Philly, I think you have a new target." . . . . Why? Cole can pay his taxes knowing he has a nice publicly funded park with publicly funded seats that help pay his salary when filled, not to mention the parks he visits on the road.

I guess Cole is a "cool" cpaitalist, which is OK with liberals:

@LouDiamond--Yes the Phillies did it all by themselves: the union labor that built their attractive stadium did not contribute to their success, the fact that government bonds that helped finance it, wages high enough to afford tickets, construction of I-95 and 76 did not help at all, an activist court that struck down the reserve clause giving players free agency...they did it all by themselves.

“Cole can pay his taxes knowing he has a nice publicly funded park…”
Yeah, and after us taxpayers buy a park for these billionaire owners, we don’t even get to name it. Some corporation swoops in with a relatively small amount of funds and names the park. I wish Massengill would throw in for one of them. That would be truth in advertising.

Mittens Mandate kicked off his UK Tour by insulting David Cameron and disclosing to the media that he met the head of M16. This nitwit doesn't understand the basics of etiquette for someone raised in a Country Club. Maybe he missed the etiquette classes because he was in the hiding your American assets in Swiss and Cayman bank account classes.

And still no tax returns.......Ron Paul is right....expect the worst Mittens!
