Rebuffed by Lane, Mendte now flirts with Moammar Gadhafi

Great news -- the Libya War will soon be over. Curt Weldon (above) and Larry Mendte are on the case!

Seriously, it sounds like a bad idea for a new Will Ferrell/John C. Reilly flick -- a disgraced ex-TV anchorman and a disgraced ex-congressman are sent to make world peace with a cartoonish dictator (Fred Armison). But according to my colleague Bill Bender, it's really happening. Maybe.

It would be funny if Mendte gave Gadhafi a platinum necklace to secure the interview, and the billionaire dictator only gave him a $60 coffeemaker.
