"I think he's done a hell of a job - considering the circumstances''. I used to think you were just misguided. I was wrong. You are a delusional moron.

Obama has done an outstanding job. Coming into office following the single worst fiscal quarter in 79 years where the economy retracted 9% and the DOW plummeted 65% his decision to stick with the auto bailout and pass an emergency stimulus clotted the wound he inherited and allowed for a painfully slow recovery to take place. There is absolutely nothing different anyone could have done that would have quickened the healing. The truth is that we have reduced the size of government and added 32 consecutive months of jobs since the recession ended in 7/2009.

We have also eliminated OBL, took out most of Al Quada's leadership, wrapped up the war in Iraq, passed universal healthcare and eliminated Ghadaffi without sacrificing an American life. All of this with the most uncooperative legislature in the history of the country for the last year and a half. The American people see this which is why he is winning by sizable amounts in every poll now against the Republican frontrunner. Game over. 4 more years....

wokmaster, in your 8:53 post you critcized Romney as a politician without core convictions who "will say anything to get your vote." You felt that his rhetoric would cause "problems for the candidate who tries to be everything-to-everybody."

But less than an hour later you are saying that you voted for a candidate whose rhetoric you didn't believe to be feasible, a man who you felt was an outstanding campaigner but not ready for the job...in effect you admit to voting for a candidate "who will say anything to get your vote". How do you reconcile these apparent inconsistencies?

You're trying to put words in my mouth, legatus. Obama does not try to be everything to everybody. Mitt Romney ran to the left of Ted Kennedy in his failed bid to defeat the incumbent. Now he is running neck and neck with Rick Santorum on social issues. Big difference.

I thought he was smart and pragmatic. I thought he had little to lose, unlike most career pols. Instead, he's doubled up on most of Bush's worst excesses. Budget, foreign policy, exec orders, civil liberties.

Fair enough. My biggest complaints are three of the four you mentioned plus the lack of accountability for the perpetrators of the banking crisis. I have no problem with his foreign policy. But where did you expect to be 3 years into his administration? Do you honestly think the GOP has tried to work with the president in good faith? And why aren't you tooing Ron Paul's horn?

The Etch-a-Sketch vs. Mr. Potato Head.
President Romney will take the first step toward getting our country back on solid financial footing.

Wok, if it'll help you, the guys I liked most in this election were Gary Johnson, John Huntsman, and Ron Paul (although he never properly owned up to the newsletters and his monetary policy is, imo, nuts). This admission will get me flamed from all sides.

"plus the lack of accountability for the perpetrators of the banking crisis."

The accountability is so far and wide, I don't feel the need for perp walks. It wouldn't change anything. Credit was too loose, people took out insane loans, banks gave insane loans, investors bought insane loans, ratings agencies smiled on insane loans, accounting standards believed in risk free debt, etc, etc, etc. It'd be cathartic to punish, but it wouldn't accomplish anything. Use bankruptcy courts, etc and sort it out.

"Do you honestly think the GOP has tried to work with the president in good faith? "

Good faith comes across as a loaded question. From the left, the GOPs stance is not in good faith. But they were elected to oppose the admin. Checks and balances are critical. I look at the bipartisan disasters of the authorization of force in Iraq, the Patriot Act, and TARP, as why we need checks and balances.

This coming from one of the dumbest posters on the site. Your comments are getting dumber by the day.

"The accountability is so far and wide..."

Yes, it is. But how about the CEO's who took hundreds of millions in bonuses? The justice system isn't always fair but the CEO's should have been made examples of. Have to get back to my book. Till next time...

80 percent of those polled feel they are more worse off now than 4 years ago? Are you kidding me? This is kryptonite for the Kenyan. Get used to the idea of Mitt the twit as POTUS.

Extremely poor corporate governance. The board and shareholders need to be much more vigilant and determine better ways to reward performance.
