Football: Glassboro's James gets offer from Pitt

By Phil Anastasia

Glassboro junior Ronnie James picked up his first scholarship offer this week from the University of Pittsburgh.

It likely won't be his last.

The 5-11, 180-pound James projects as a defensive back in college. He also is a standout running back in high school, having gained 1,168 yards in leading Glassboro to the South Jersey Group 1 title last season.

James ran for 116 yards and 3 TDs in a 44-0 win over Penn Grove in the sectional title game.

James' brother, P.J., is a running back at Rutgers.

Ronnie James' classmate, Glassboro junior wide receiver/defensive back Juwan Johnson, has around 15 offers, including a recent one from Wisconsin.

James and Johnson were among the 175 or so athletes who participated in an underclassmen showcase Friday night at Total Turf in Pitman.
