Football: Ex-Coatesville standout Boggs commits to Rutgers

Former Coatesville standout Andre Boggs, now prepping at Avon Old Farms in Connecticut, has orally committed to play football for Rutgers.

As a wide receiver and defensive back, Boggs last season helped the Red Raiders go 13-3, win the PIAA District 1 Class AAAA championship,
and advance to the state final before losing to District 7's North Allegheny.

In 16 games last year, Boggs had 37 receptions for 875 yards and 13 touchdowns. He earned Inquirer second-team all-Southeastern Pennsylvania honors as a wide receiver.

Boggs is a wide receiver and cornerback at Avon Old Farms. According to Coatesville coach Matt Ortega, the 5-foot-10, 170-pounder is projected to be a defensive back at Rutgers.

Ortega said that Boggs will spend the entire school year at Avon Old Farms and then enroll at Rutgers.
