Basketball: More memories of Clarence Turner
By Phil Anastasia
Former Camden High School basketball star Donnie Walker, now known as Wasim Muhammad, said this photo was taken recently during a visit to former Camden coach Clarence Turner's home in Chicago.
Turner died on Sunday at the age of 81.
Muhammad, who is a minister and works with at-risk youngsters in Camden, was a standout player for one of Turner's best teams, the 1986 squad that finished 30-0 and was ranked No. 1 in the nation by USA Today.
Muhammad went on to play at the University of New Mexico.
"I am grateful to Coach Turner to have finished my career on a big stage with New Mexico Lobos alongside former NBA champion Luc Longley of the Chicago Bulls," Muhammad said.
