Basketball: Cloran tabbed as new O'Hara coach

Cardinal O'Hara has announced Steve Cloran as its new head boys' basketball coach.

A 1990 graduate of O'Hara, Cloran previously was head coach at the Haverford School (2003 to 2011) and Marple Newtown (2000 to 2003). He was an assistant with the Haverford College women's squad last season.

Previously, he was an assistant at O'Hara (1994 to 1999) and Upper Darby (1999-2000).

At O'Hara, Cloran, who played basketball at St. Francis (Pa.), replaces Tim Kelly, who was let go by the school after posting a 34-46 record in five seasons.

The Lions went 8-14 overall and 2-11 in the Catholic League in 2012-13.
