Basketball: Reynolds bound for Villanova

Darryl Reynolds, a 6-foot-8 power forward who helped Lower Merion reach the PIAA Class AAAA state championship game in 2012, has announced that he will continue his career at Villanova.

Reynolds, who spent last season at Worcester Academy in Massachusetts, committed to play for the Wildcats in a Tuesday afternoon press conference at Lower Merion's Downs Gymnasium. He also considered Seton Hall, South Carolina, and Utah.

At Worcester, the Bala Cynwyd native significantly raised his recruiting stock. He helped the Hilltoppers, who compete in the New England Prep School Athletic Conference, to a 21-6 record.

For Lower Merion in 2011-12, Reynolds averaged 11 points, 8.2 rebounds, and 4.2 blocks while earning Inquirer fourth-team all-Southeastern Pennsylvania honors. The Aces advanced to the state final before losing to District 1 rival Chester.

At Villanova, Reynolds will join 6-11 freshman Daniel Ochefu, a Westtown School graduate, on the front line.
