It didn't take long - less than a day - for vandals to target the recently reopened South Street Bridge, police said.

Early Sunday morning, about 12 hours after Mayor Nutter officially opened the new $67 million bridge between University City and Southwest Center City, two men and a juvenile were arrested as they sought to give the bridge its first illicit mark, according to Pennsylvania State Police.

John David Marks, 30, and Kyle Joseph Segeske, 25, were arrested with an unnamed 16-year-old already on probation. All are from Northeast Philadelphia. They were charged with criminal mischief; the adults were also charged with corruption of a minor.

Police saw the three walking away from a brick wall near 30th Street Station - newly tagged with TBR and KYLES in red, yellow, and blue spray paint - and making their way to the bridge, officers said. They fled when they saw the Pennsylvania State Police cruiser's lights, officers said. - Kathleen Brady Shea and Matt Katz
