Property-tax rebate may be checked online

Eligible older adults and residents with disabilities may check the status of their Property Tax/Rent Rebate application online at www.papropertytaxrelief.com , according to a news release this week from Gov. Rendell's office.

Six weeks after submitting a Property Tax/Rent Rebate application, applicants may visit the Web site and check the status of the rebate by entering their Social Security number, anticipated rebate amount, and birth date. Property Tax/Rent Rebate applicants also can check rebate status by calling 1-888-728-2937 (1-888-PATAXES).

Rebate checks will be distributed beginning July 1.

Property Tax/Rent Rebate claim forms (PA-1000) and information are available online at the Web site and by calling 1-888-222-9190. Forms and assistance also are available at Department of Revenue district offices, local Area Agencies on Aging, senior centers, and state legislators' offices. The deadline to apply for a rebate on property taxes or rent paid in 2008 is June 30. - Inquirer staff
