Driver killed in 3-vehicle crash in Chesco

A three-vehicle accident yesterday afternoon in North Coventry Township, Chester County, led to the death of one of the drivers.

A three-vehicle accident yesterday afternoon in North Coventry Township, Chester County, led to the death of one of the drivers.

According to township police, the accident was reported at 4:15 p.m.

A white GMC pickup truck traveling north on Route 100, south of Cedarville Road, was changing lanes after passing a Chevrolet Malibu when it hit the Malibu's front corner, police said. The pickup spun into the southbound lane and was hit by a southbound Saturn.

The driver of the Saturn was taken to Pottstown Memorial Medical Center, where he died from head, neck and chest injuries. His name was not released.

The pickup truck's driver was treated for head and face injuries at Reading Hospital; the driver of the Malibu was not injured. Police were withholding the names of the two drivers who survived, described only as adult males.

Route 100 was closed for about four hours, police said.
