Camden County will host a series of recycling events in coming weeks, beginning with a hazardous-household-waste collection next Saturday and paper-shredding May 2.

Since hazardous waste collections began in 1998, Camden County has collected 5.5 million pounds of oil-based paints, pesticides, pool chemicals, car batteries, propane tanks, and other household materials. Since shreddings began in 2006, 94 tons of paper have been recycled.

Hazardous materials can be taken to the Collingswood Borough Department of Public Works, 713 N. Atlantic Ave., from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 25. Paper will be shredded from 9 a.m. to noon May 2 at Camden County College in Gloucester Township.

Other events, also exclusively for county residents, are scheduled through May and June. For more information, go to www.camdencounty.com. - Matt Katz
