Bass River State Forest staff members and volunteers will team up from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on April 19 to help beautify New Jersey's first state forest during the Earth Day Challenge.

They will pick up trash, remove invasive plants, weed flowerbeds, and trim trails, forest officials said. Volunteers will be provided with tools, garbage bags and snacks, but should bring gloves and beverages.

To volunteer and receive more information, call the forest office at 609-296-1114. The forest is in Burlington and Ocean Counties. - Edward Colimore
