School board action brings open-records dispute

HARRISBURG - The Pennsylvania Newspaper Association helped lead lobbying for changes to strengthen the state's Right-to-Know Law. Now, it is criticizing the state agency that enforces that law.

HARRISBURG - The Pennsylvania Newspaper Association helped lead lobbying for changes to strengthen the state's Right-to-Know Law. Now, it is criticizing the state agency that enforces that law.

At issue is a budget proposal discussed by the Northampton Area School District in February. The school board provided a copy to a reporter for the Allentown Morning Call, but blacked out the numbers.

On appeal by the reporter, the state Open Records Office sided with the school board. - AP
