A man who unsuccessfully tried to bribe a state Motor Vehicle Commission clerk to issue fraudulent driver's licenses has been sentenced to five years in prison.

Prosecutors say Kenan Yilmaz, 36, of Plumsted offered the clerk, who worked at the Medford MVC office, amounts ranging from $1,500 to $5,000 if she would issue licenses to people who lacked the required identification.

Yilmaz pleaded guilty to bribery in December.

He also was sentenced yesterday to a three-year prison term for an unrelated drug charge brought by the Burlington County Prosecutor's Office. That sentence will run concurrently with the bribery term and a five-year sentence he received in January for drug charges brought by the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office. - AP
