Pedestrian injured by van on Washington Square

A 91-year-old woman was seriously injured yesterday when she was hit by a passenger van on Washington Square, police said.

The woman's leg was crushed when she was struck at 6:07 p.m. as the van turned from Washington Square South onto South Sixth Street, police said.

The victim, not identified, was taken to Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, authorities said. Her condition was not known last night. Police were investigating the accident and no charges were immediately filed.
