Comcast is investigating Internet disruptions

Many of Comcast's high-speed Internet customers in Philadelphia, in its suburbs, and across New Jersey experienced several hours of problems calling up various Web sites yesterday, company spokeswoman Beth Bacha said.

The problem, which did not involve television or phone customers, began around 7 a.m. and was "completely resolved" around 2 p.m., Bacha said. The problem was intermittent and did not affect all high-speed customers or specific Web sites.

Bacha said she did not know how many of the 2.5 million Comcast subscribers in the service areas were affected.

The cause of the problem was under investigation, she said.
