Temple, school district to offer four scholarships

Temple University will team with the Philadelphia School District to award full scholarships to four outstanding students with financial need, the college announced yesterday.

To be eligible, students must be residents of Philadelphia and attend a city high school. They will be nominated by their school or one of the district's community or faith-based partners. Temple will award the scholarships, which are renewable for up to four years, based on five criteria: academic record, standardized test scores, community service and leadership experience, financial need, and proximity of residence to Temple's main campus.

The program will start in fall 2009 and continue for 10 years.
