Man held in Frankford rape

He is charged with abducting a girl, 16, on her way to Simon Gratz High and assaulting her.

A Frankford man has been arrested in the alleged abduction and rape of a 16-year-old Simon Gratz High School student, police said yesterday.

Jason Johnson, 32, of the 1600 block of Orthodox Street, was charged with rape, kidnapping, sexual assault, aggravated assault, and corruption of the morals of a minor, police said.

The girl, a sophomore, told police that she had been repeatedly raped Thursday after being abducted on her way to school.

She said a gunman confronted her about 7 a.m. as she walked through a park area in the 1300 block of Orthodox Street en route to the Market-Frankford El.

He walked her to a nearby residence and sexually assaulted her, she said. About 6 p.m., she was driven to a park near Frankford and Cheltenham Avenues and assaulted again in the car, she said.

Sustaining cuts to her neck and finger, she fled and flagged down a motorist who took her home to her mother, the girl told police. She was taken to St. Christopher's Hospital for Children.

Johnson was being arraigned last night.
