Delaware River searched for NBA star's father

Divers searched the Delaware River off Chester yesterday in search for Floyd Nelson - the father of NBA player and former St. Joseph's University star Jameer Nelson - who was last seen near the water about noon.

The U.S. Coast Guard and divers from a neighboring township searched the waters for hours, but had to stop when it became dark, Chester City Mayor Wendell Butler said last night.

Butler said Nelson, who works at a tugboat repair shop in the west end of the city, was last seen leaving for lunch with a friend. Nelson then had lunch at his usual place near the water, and the friend left. When the friend returned, Nelson was missing and it was presumed that he might have fallen into the water.
