READING - A man and a teenage boy apparently planned a robbery when they drove up and shot a McDonald's drive-through worker in July, police said.

Yonel Hernandez-Payero, 28, and Xavier Rodriguez-Colon, 15, were held without bail Thursday in the Berks County prison in the July 18 slaying of Shawnee M. Koch, 40, the second fatal shooting at the same drive-through window in three years. The teenager was charged as an adult.

Police said the two confessed to the shooting. Hernandez-Payero was driving when the two pulled up in a stolen car, and Rodriguez-Colon fired a shot through the window, fatally injuring Koch, an assistant manager at the McDonald's, investigators said.

The two were arraigned in Reading Central Court on charges of second-degree murder, robbery, conspiracy and related offenses. - AP
