Woman, firefighter injured in N. Phila. blaze

A 60-year-old woman was injured yesterday when she jumped from a second-floor window to escape a house fire in North Philadelphia, officials said. A firefighter also suffered second-degree burns to his legs. Both were taken to Temple University Hospital. Officials said their injuries did not appear life-threatening. Neither was identified.

The fire in a three-story house on the 2300 block of North 16th Street was reported at 6:06 a.m. Firefighters found all three floors in flames when they arrived minutes later, authorities said. The fire was declared under control at 6:47. - Joseph A. Gambardello
